It's been a while since I've worked on the Monster High house, I have been very busy and just haven't had much time for it. I have received several new dolls in the last few months.....my husband has been buying them for me like crazy. I don't know what's gotten into him but every time he goes into a store lately, he heads straight for the Monster High Dolls and if there is one on sale, I get a new doll! The newest additions are, Venus McFlytrap, Draculaura, Lagoona Blue, Robecca Steam, another Spectra and Ghoulia. The new ghouls will be getting their own house. I've been looking for another deal on an old Barbie house and I have already started collecting old Barbie furniture to repaint. The new house will be mostly furnished with re-purposed 1:6 scale furnishings.

I plan to post some more photos and tutorials soon. In the mean time, I found this cute tutorial on the blog Southern Disposition. Kendra, the blog's author came up with a creative way to make her daughter a dollhouse that is compact, inexpensive, and cute. She has also included tutorials for furnishing each room. I love this idea, the possibilities are endless!
~Click here for the Three Ring Binder "Dollhouse" Tutorial!~
The link to the tutorial is no longer accessible, Kendra has made her blog "open to invited readers only". There are enough pictures of the tutorial on Pinterest, that it's pretty easy to figure out how to make your own.
I haven't had time to put into making my own "rooms" up yet but I did manage to throw a couple together very quickly just for this post. I want to make a "room" for each of my Monster High Dolls and I think I will make a couple up as backgrounds just for photographing miniatures.

My 10 year old niece spent the night recently and we made some food for the dollhouse and a sliced pizza for her to take home for her own Monster High Dolls. We used polymer clay, beads, fancy toothpicks, cheerios, glue, clear nail polish and free printies from Jim's Printable Minis ~Playscale.  View the video below to see how to make a pizza.
I used the following video as a guide to make my pizzas.

Fangtastic Ghoulie Bedrooms

Today's post features the ghoul's bedrooms. With the exception of the Goulia's room, the walls are papered with scrapbook paper and the flooring is "black marble" peel & stick tiles. I added the top floor to create the Goulia's bedroom.  I made the walls & ceiling from black foam core.

I have included photos with the furnishings in the rooms but they are not yet complete.

Several of the rooms have curtains made from scrapbook paper, I have included the tutorial below.

The Goulia's Room

The floor is "rusty cement" peel & stick tile. The walls are "blood splattered" with red paint.

I used black duct tape to create the black stripes on the walls.

I replaced the original chair I made for Spectra's vanity with a paper mache' hand I found at Joanne's Fabric, I spray painted it black.

Here is a look at what I've been making for the Monster High Kitchen. Once again I have followed several tutorials from MyFroggyStuff and I have included them below.
Picture
The kitchen sink unit and stove were made from pop tart boxes and the refrigerator was a box of bread sticks. See tutorials below.
Picture
Picture
The "knobs" are decorative push pins from the dollar store, spray painted black.

I used a printable for the stove window.
Picture
I used food pictures from the internet to "fill" the fridge and freezer.
See tutorial below for kitchen island. I made the bar stool from the bases of electric candles from the Dollar Tree, foam core and scrapbook paper. Bar stool tutorial to follow later.

The Ghouls' Bedroom Furniture

I created all of the bedroom furnishings from recycled food boxes, duct tape, scrapbook paper, spray paint can lids, various caps, beads and push pins. The middle drawers in Spectra and Cupids' vanities open, they were made from small match boxes. I made Cupid's vanity chair from a clear plastic heart shaped box from the Dollar Tree, spray painted flat black. The area rugs were made from felt and scrapbook paper. Operetta's vanity stool is an Oil Of Olay jar. I couldn't find tutorials for making the dressers and vanities that I wanted to make but I watched a few videos to get some ideas, then I winged it. I made Cupid and Spectra's vanities based on a dollhouse fireplace tutorial. I have included the videos below.

Monster High House ~ Day One

Monster High Doll Operetta
Hello and welcome to my Monster High Dollhouse Project! I will be adding photos and videos of my progress including tutorials that I use, or create. I'm also going to track the cost of this project in the sidebar on the right and I will post the links to where I purchase items.

I discovered the Monster High Dolls about a year ago and fell in love with them immediately! Originally I intended to only buy the Daughter of the Zombies, Goulia Yelps but after buying my first three, I discovered one with purple hair and had to have her. So I bought Spectra Vondergiest, and before I knew it I was also the owner of a Frankie Stein, Cupid and Operetta. Now I'm completely hooked and want them all! I knew from the start that I would want a house for them and a few months ago my husband found an old barbie house on Craigslist for $20. I have decided to make this my summer project and hope to have it completed within a couple of months. I've started off with a quick video and a few photos.

Here is a photo of the Barbie house right after I removed the roof and elevator. I'm going to leave the roof off in case I want to add rooms to the top at some point.
