Hello and welcome to my Monster High Dollhouse Project! I will be adding photos and videos of my progress including tutorials that I use, or create. I'm also going to track the cost of this project in the sidebar on the right and I will post the links to where I purchase items. I discovered the Monster High Dolls about a year ago and fell in love with them immediately! Originally I intended to only buy the Daughter of the Zombies, Goulia Yelps but after buying my first three, I discovered one with purple hair and had to have her. So I bought Spectra Vondergiest, and before I knew it I was also the owner of a Frankie Stein, Cupid and Operetta. Now I'm completely hooked and want them all! I knew from the start that I would want a house for them and a few months ago my husband found an old barbie house on Craigslist for $20. I have decided to make this my summer project and hope to have it completed within a couple of months. I've started off with a quick video and a few photos. Here is a photo of the Barbie house right after I removed the roof and elevator. I'm going to leave the roof off in case I want to add rooms to the top at some point. *UPDATE~ I have created a website just for my Monster High doll collection and projects. Just wondering how this project is coming along. I actually bought a similar dollhouse and would like to create it into a MH house for my daughter. Looking for ideas for siding and roof or wondering if I should just leave the outside alone

Hi Amy! I will be posting some new pics pretty soon. I took the roof off of mine and I'm adding another floor made from black foam-core. As far as the outside, right now the whole thing is painted flat black and I'm still trying to decide what I want to do. I am considering egg carton stones, spray paint that looks like granite and also I have found some peel and stick floor tiles that looks like stone. I have also considered scrapbook paper that looks like brick. I'm just not sure what I want yet. I'd love to hear your ideas!

I wasn't sure how paint would adhere to the glossy finish so I'm redoing the inside using contact paper and duck tape printed sheets. I've also considered usig paper and spray adhesive for the outside. I have until September to finish it for her birthday so I'm just taking it slow. I'm going to make the beds too! Thanks for the tutorial!

I used about 3 cans of paint to cover inside and out. I wasn't very particular about the inside because I'm covering it with scrapbook paper. I concentrated most of the paint on the inside to the corners of the rooms and the trim on the floor and ceiling. I mostly wanted to get rid of the bright pink and the spray paint was the easiest and least expensive way to accomplish that. I didn't have any trouble covering the glossy finish. Now I can go over the paint with whatever finish I decide on and I don't have to look at that awful pink anymore. =) 7/18/2012 08:28:16 pm

When I was a kid, I used to build my own doll house with the collection of dolls I have. I had a wide collection of Barbie dolls with me which my parents had gifted me on my each birthday. The good part is I still have them with me. :)

My first Monster High doll was Frankie Stein. As of today I'm up to 4, including the addition of Casta Fierce today.
